Shilajit Goji Cacao Smoothie Recipe

shilajit smoothie recipe

Shilajit is a superfood which has numerous health benefits that range from improving memory and balancing hormones to fighting viruses.   It’s fairly expensive as a supplement, so you’ll want to buy it as a resin instead of in capsules for a better deal.  (See my picks for best shilajit resin)

The problem is that shilajit by itself tastes horrible.  It has been described as having a burnt rubber taste. It’s bitter, smoky and earthy all at the same time.  Usually I will just mix some shilajit resin in warm water and take it like a shot.  For a more enjoyable experience though, you can make a smoothie from shilajit.

Goji berries and dates help balance out the bitter taste of shilajit in this recipe.  Cacao adds some richness and helps mask the pungency of shilajit. Feel free to experiment with other combinations!

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups of almond milk or coconut milk
  • 2 dates
  • 4 Tbsp. goji berries
  • 1 Tbsp. cacao
  • 1/8 tsp. shilajit (about 500mg)
  • 1 Tbsp. raspberry extract powder or a handful of whole berries
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 1-2 Tbsp. honey or agave syrup
  • Optional add-ins: mushroom powder, maca, pine pollen, mesquite, or nut butter

Instructions: Put all the ingredients into a blender.  Add the shilajit last so it won’t stick to your blender instead of getting mixed. Blend until smooth.
